Becoming a member of Juneau NOW

We're so glad you've decided to join us!

Who Can Join?

Membership is open to all individuals who wish to support equality. Feminism advocates for equal rights regardless of gender, race, sexual identity, disability or any other socially imposed classification. Membership in Juneau NOW is assigned automatically when you join the National Organization for Women.

Benefits of Joining

Membership is required to vote or run for office at the local, state or national level. Members of Juneau NOW may elect to receive periodic updates via our list server. As a member of the National Organization of Women, you join with over half a million other feminists who support advocacy and education to improve public opinion and policy on issues including reproductive freedom, freedom to marry, freedom from war and other violence, and a host of other issues of just and equitable treatment.

How Do I Join?

Everyone is welcome at our meetings and activities. Membership fees to NOW and Juneau NOW support activism projects to promote equality. There is a fee of $35 per year (or less based on income) to be a member of NOW. Click here to go to the NOW website and fill out their membership application online or download an application to mail in.

If you live in Southeast Alaska, you will automatically be added to our roles, but be sure and come to a meeting or contact us so we can keep in touch. A very small portion of your national membership fees (about 2 dollars) will be given to Juneau NOW to support local projects and activities to increase the status of women. There is no additional fee for membership in your local Juneau NOW chapter. You can donate money to our local chapter if you wish through a link on our Take Action page or at a meeting.

"The time is definitely right to reestablish NOW in Juneau. Women are very interested in the issues that affect them, and they need an outlet where they can take action."
~Ann Ropp, founding co-chair, Juneau NOW, 2005
